Description

By the AB community's prolific output, there are not so many specific images of this DSO.  Perhaps this is understandable since this is in a crowded area of arguably more spectacular and  certainly brigher DSOs.    Nevertheless this HII region has much to recommended it, with elements reminiscent of the Trifid, Eagle and Rosette nebulae.  But it is quite faint, and the nights here are short at this time of year, so it took a few nights to image - even in just Ha and [OIII].

It has been called the Cheshire Cat nebula, but unless the cat is giving me the finger, I can't really see that.
